Welcome to Irish Historical Tours. We will take you on guided day and weekend tours of the battlefields, monuments and places of historical interest throughout Ireland, and tell the story of those events which shaped the past, present and future of Irish people throughout the world.
The Tours.
We offer both day and residential tours.Our tours are delivered by a team of specialist, competent and reputable historians.
The day tours begin at 0930 in Belfast and finish at 1530.
Day Tours.
The 1798 Rebellion in Antrim, Down and Belfast.
The History of the Gaelic clans in the Glens of Antrim(16th Century).
The Nine Years War and the 1641 Rebellion.(This includes a tour of the Battlefields of the Yellow ford and Benburb).
The story of Oliver Cromwell in Drogheda.(Bus returns to Belfast at 1630).
The Williamite war in Ireland(This includes a tour of the Battlefield at the Boyne).(Bus returns to Belfast at 1630).
The History of Belfast throughout the 20th Century.
Residential Tours
These tours begin with registration,welcome and dinner at the hotel at 1800, followed by a short introductory lecture.
The first part of the tour will start at 0930 the next morning and will end at 1530.
The second and concluding part of the tour will take place the next day at the same times.

First Day-The Rebellion in Belfast and County Antrim.
Second Day- The Rebellion in County Down.
The History of the Gaelic Clans, the Plantation of Ulster and the Nine Years War.
First Day- The History of the Gaelic Clans in Antrim, the Story of Shane O Neill.
Second Day- The Nine Years War. The story of Hugh O Neill, Owen Roe O Neill and a visit to the battlefields at the Yellow ford in Armagh and Benburb.
Oliver Cromwell in Ireland and the Williamite War
First Day-Oliver Cromwell in ireland, the massacres in Drogheda.
Second day- The Williamite war, the battlefield at the Boyne.
The Fenians and the Famine in County Mayo
First Day- The Famine,work houses, soup kitchens, the emigrations.
Second Day-The Fenian Revolutionaries. The landlords,evictions, Michael Davitt and the Land League.
The History of Conflict in Belfast in the 20th Century
First Day-1900 to 1968. The Home rule Bill, Pogroms, the First World War and Partition.
Second day- The Civil Rights Movement, the collapse of Stormont, the re-emergence of the IRA and the good Friday Agreement.
The War of Independence and the Civil War in West Cork
First Day-The Ambushes at Kilmichael, Crossbarry and Upton, Tom Barry and Michael Collins.
Second Day- Cork City, The Civil War, the Death of Collins.

Cost of Tours.
Day Tours-£25 per person. This includes cost of travel and payment for the guides. It does not include the cost of lunch, tea, coffee or refreshments.
Residential Tours(Based in the Premier Inn in Belfast) - £195 per person sharing. There will be an extra charge for single rooms.
The cost includes payment for the guides and all transport costs, residence and meals at the hotel. This includes two dinners and two breakfasts. It does not include extra charges for lunch, tea, coffee, alcohol or other refreshments during the tours.
Charges for tours in other parts of Ireland will be decided in the near future.
